Ekaterina Popova is one of the most promising pianists of her generation. Born in Belarus, she lives in the tradition of her musical family. Her father, Oleg Popov, is a pianist and was director of the Minsk State Music School. Her mother, Natalia Stepanova, is also a pianist and worked as a professor at the Music Academy Minsk.
Ekaterina Popova began playing piano at the age of five. After completing her basic education with her mother, she studied at the Music College for gifted children with Prof. Zwetaeva. On her further artistic path, she was accompanied by Prof. Olovnikov. She completed her graduation with distinction and continued her studies at the University of Music and Drama Hannover with Prof. Arie Vardi. She finished her education summa cum laude and continued her studies in the solo class of Prof. Arie Vardi, which she also successfully completed.
Every year Ekaterina Popova performs numerous solo concerts and has already performed with many international orchestras such as Bacau Symphony Orchestra, Oltenia di Craiova, Minsk Philharmonic, Chamber Orchestra Belarus, Habermann Chamber Orchestra. She has already performed on the big stages of the world. The Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, the St Peterburg Philharmonic, the Great Hall of the Hanover University of Music and Drama, the Steinway hall Munich, the Teatro Civico Italy, the Teatro Coccia, the Braunschweiger Musikpodium. She played concerts all around Europe, Russia, Latin America, and China.
Ekaterina Popova won numerous prizes and competitions, such as the All-Soviet Competition in Vladimir (Russia), Shostakovich Competition in Hanover, Viotti-Valsessia (Italy), Cantu (Italy), Ibla Grand Prix (Italy), A.M.A. Calabria, Ibiza, etc. Because of her outstanding artistic achievements she got several scholarships e.g. from the Soros Foundation, a study scholarship in Iowa / USA and a scholarship from the President of Belarus for talented young people. Numerous conductors have already appeared with her such as Zirük, Kataiev, Vandilovski, Junesko-Galatti, Balan, Stenger-Lütz, Bortnovski.
In addition to her concert career, Ekaterina Popova works successfully as a piano teacher. Her students won numerous prizes and were successfully prepared for music studies. Ekaterina Popova worked as a teacher for chamber music accompaniment at the Hanover University of Music and Drama. She also teaches numerous masterclasses around the world.
